NOVITA KUMALA
A corporate lawyer by training, she has spent over a decade driving sustainable initiatives through public policy and collective action. Novita began her career at a leading corporate law firm in Jakarta before shifting her focus to the development sector in 2014, where she became a passionate advocate for environmental protection. Over the years, she has held various impactful roles with organizations such as a globally renowned think tank – the World Resources Institute, UNDP REDD+ (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation), the Bangsamoro Transition Authority in the Philippines, an Indonesian NGO, the American Bar Association (ROLI), and, more recently, a conservation company and carbon project developer based in the United States. In her latest role, she gained extensive experience from a company specializing in originating and developing Forest and Other Land Use-based carbon projects.
With her diverse background, Novita is deeply committed to working collaboratively across the public, private, and nonprofit sectors to develop solutions that protect ecosystems and promote sustainable alternatives to resource extraction.
